Dr. Femke Claessen
Femke Claessen (MD, PhD) works as a sports physician at Erasmus MC in the Netherlands. She specializes in shoulder, elbow, and wrist injuries, with a focus on tennis and padel-related injuries. Additionally, she serves as the sports physician for the Dutch Royal Tennis Association in padel and works as a tournament physician for ATP, WTA, and Premier Padel events. In 2016, Femke earned her PhD in Boston with a thesis titled “Novel Insights in Elbow Trauma,” concentrating on elbow trauma. She has published over 45 research papers and received numerous awards for her contributions to the field. Continuing her work in research, she currently chairs the Dutch multidisciplinary guideline for managing tennis and golf elbow injuries. Growing up, Femke spent nearly every day on the tennis court, fostering a lifelong passion for the sport. In addition to tennis, she enjoys windsurfing.
