Prof. Dr. Gino Kerkhoffs

After two years of practice in Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, Gino Kerkhoffs has worked in Amsterdam starting from 2008. In 2014 he was appointed full professor of Orthopedics, chair of the resident program and from 2016 appointed as chair of Orthopedic surgery and Sports Medicine of the Amsterdam University Medical Centers on both locations. Motivated from a high interest in sports injuries and ankle pathology, Gino Kerkhoffs combines clinical care for international elite athletes and football players with a strong scientific track record focused on sports injury prevention and treatment as well as ankle cartilage injury treatment. As an international renowned expert in the field, professor Kerkhoffs works in close collaboration with  the IOC, NOC-NSF and a large number of national and international football clubs, sports federations and Ballet Groups. He is co-founder and current chair of the Amsterdam Collaboration group for Health and Safety of the athletes in Sport (ACHSS), the Amsterdam IOC Research Center.
