Drs. Jeroen Rietvelt
Jeroen Rietvelt is a sports scientist and performance specialist with expertise in strength diagnostics, athlete monitoring, and Velocity-Based Training (VBT). His work focuses on bridging the gap between rehabilitation and performance by translating scientific evidence into practical applications within strength and conditioning, Return to Sport, and Return to Performance processes. Currently, he serves as Fieldlab Manager within the Royal Netherlands Army, where he contributes to improving the physical and mental readiness of military personnel and units for ground-based operations. This is achieved through the integration of sports medicine care, expert advice, education, and practice-based scientific research. In addition, he works as a performance consultant for FC Utrecht and serves as a guest lecturer in the Master’s program in Sports Physiotherapy. Previously, he held the position of Head of Performance for Japan Skating, where he was responsible for the physical preparation and performance support of elite athletes competing at the highest international level. Through his work across elite sport, military performance, academia, and applied sports science, he specializes in implementing data-driven approaches to optimize performance and support evidence-informed decision-making. His particular areas of interest include strength diagnostics, Velocity-Based Training, athlete monitoring, and the integration of performance and rehabilitation strategies.
