Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to ArthroMunich, the 3rd International Symposium on Operative and Biologic Treatments in Sports Medicine.
It is a great honor and pleasure for me to be the scientific chairman of an international sports medicine congress of this size, but it is also a challenge to match the high standards set by the prior two ArthroCologne congresses with regard to the quality, practicality and cutting edge nature of the information presented. This symposium will provide a unique opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and dissemination of research findings throughout the international community.
The role and importance of sports medicine and minimally-invasive orthopedics has changed as the aging population increasingly engages in sporting activities which demand high levels of function even after injury. People want to return to an active post-injury sporting lifestyle irrespective of age. Additionally, minimally-invasive surgical techniques have the potential to accelerate vocational re-integration after surgery which can have a huge economic impact.
The main goals of this congress include an update on the latest surgical techniques and report of the latest advances in biologic healing enhancement, whilst maintaining the pioneering scientific spirit and patient focus of prior ArthroCologne congresses. We will include live surgical demonstrations, short paper presentations, debates and panel discussions. We are fortunate to have a distinguished faculty representing the international leaders in arthroscopy, knee and shoulder surgery, sports medicine and biologic treatment.
I look forward to the stimulating and progressive programme that will be ArthroMunich 2009. We hope the schedule will also allow friendships to form and ideas to spread during the scientific and social programmes here in Bavaria.
Herzlich Willkommen!
